The project for the construction of a tower with stairs and an elevator near the Torrione degli Spagnoli in Carpi is based on a vision of respect for the history and culture of the city, while simultaneously aiming to improve the accessibility and usability of this historic site. The tower is conceived as a pure parallelepiped, evoking principles of simplicity and functionality, and is designed to harmonize with the adjacent castle and Torrione degli Spagnoli. The use of materials such as concrete for the main structural partitions and translucent cladding for the exterior surfaces creates an interesting contrast between the ancient and the modern, while allowing a view of the stairs ascending inside the structure, emphasizing the concepts of transparency and accessibility. The architectural concept underlying this tower is based on four fundamental pillars: respect for the historical environment, universal accessibility, architectural innovation, and respect for structural integrity. The tower is designed to respect the surrounding historic environment. The choice of a pure parallelepiped is inspired by the simplicity of medieval architectural forms, particularly that of the Torrione degli Spagnoli. This visual dialogue with the surrounding architecture creates a harmonious connection between past and present.
