At the delicate urban edge between Boca La Caja and San Francisco, the museum is conceived as a material interface between the city and the coastal landscape. The generating idea stems from the logic of the emergent reef, understood not only as form but as process: a compact, continuous mass that is progressively carved, eroded, and revealed. The project adopts coral stone as its founding principle. Extracted as a single block, a primary form, it is shaped through subtraction: a process that does not add, but reveals. Cavities and porosities are not applied elements, but emerge as intrinsic expressions of the material itself. Space coincides with the carved void, while the remaining mass retains a structural and symbolic role. This logic produces a suspended, perforated volume that frees the ground and restores permeability to public space. The ground level remains open and traversable, a porous surface where multiple flows converge into a central plaza. The museum is conceived as an open structure, inspired by the threshold system of Casco Viejo: sequences of compression and expansion, light and shadow, shaping a gradual spatial experience. Access is multiple and diffused, reinforcing inclusivity and collective appropriation. Like a reef growing through stratification, the museum is envisioned as a living organism, capable of accumulating practices and relationships over time. A carved mass that becomes space: refuge and passage, matter and process.
